ATJ Presents Free Longwave Show!

Announcements

Hi all! After the Jump is so excited about this one…

On Friday August 15th, we will presenting a free show by Longwave with a special guest at one of our favorite music venues, The Music Hall of Williamsburg. The show is the official after party for the Albert Hammond, Jr. and Regina Spektor concert at McCarren Park Pool. Come out and party with us!

After the Jump Presents Longwave!
Here is some information about Longwave:

Longwave are set to release their fourth full-length album, Secrets Are Sinister, November 11, 2008 on Original Signal Recordings.

The follow-up to 2005’s There’s A Fire (RCA), the new album was recorded predominantly by the band in their Brooklyn studio and with the help of producer Peter Katis (The National, Tokyo Police Club, Interpol) at his Connecticut studio. Secrets Are Sinister expands on the band’s trademark sound: atmospheric, arena-sized guitars still build to an epic swell while the band’s penchant for dreamy landscapes now gives way to an equally dynamic but louder, noisier, and more driving sensibility. Hailed in the past by magazines ranging from Rolling Stone to Nylon to Alternative Press, Longwave returns with their most varied and accomplished work to date, from the shimmering “Sirens In The Deep Sea” to the thundering, Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Sleater-Kinney)-produced “Life Is Wrong” to the hopeful title track.

A Note From Donors Choose

Announcements

After the Jump received these lovely notes from the teachers whom received funding via Donor’s Choose from the funds generated from this year’s After the Jump Fest. Thank you to all those who participated and made this possible! And thank you to all the NYC teachers for making music an important part of their children’s education.

Dear After The Jump Bloggers,Teachers and students are currently enjoying the summer holidays, so the grant proposals you funded will become a reality as soon as students return to school in September. In the meantime, the teachers wrote you these notes:

Dear After The Jump Bloggers, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation. My students are the most important thing to me besides my family. Teaching my students is a blessing that I am thankful for everyday. Thanks to you, my students can have the opportunity to express themselves in ways that go beyond the conventional way we learn. We will spend many happy hours enjoying our musical instruments and Cd’s. Words cannot express my hear felt gratitude. Thank you once again for making my students wishes come true.Fondly. Ms Thompson

Dear After The Jump Bloggers, Thank you so much for your generosity in funding this proposal! I’ve been a kindergarten teacher for the past two years, and not having engaging dramatic play materials for my students to use has often weighed heavy on my heart. My fondest memories of my first years in school were of playing, pretending, and imagining all sorts of scenarios with my friends. Now I will be able to make sure that my future students are guaranteed learning experiences that require the use of their imagination! I can’t express my immense gratitude for your help in making this a reality. A HUGE heartfelt thank you, Caroline Hanley

Dear After The Jump Bloggers,Dear Donors, Thank you so much for funding our classroom listening center. I am very excited about beginning another school year with your generous gift. I am sure that my incoming kindergartners will be delighted to use our new listening center. You have given inner city kids the gift of listening to stories in a way that is fun and exciting to them. Once again thank you and expect to hear from us soon as the little ones will be able to thank you themselves. Greatly appreciative, Mrs. Ramona Brito
